Little known fact: award-winning tattooist, Mario Barth, is also talented in the art of reconstructive permanent cosmetic tattooing.
You won't be able to find it mentioned online, and I only stumbled upon the info after speaking with Mario and his wife Carol at this year's NYC Tattoo Convention, where I spied it discreetly mentioned in a pamphlet.
Having my lips "fixed" was something that had been on my mind for years. Because of blood vessels that are too close to the surface of my lips, one half of my mouth is purple. The other half, lacking this hyper-pigmentation, is a pale mauve. I hadn't done anything about it until now because I was looking for someone I could trust.
When I learned that Mario now did cosmetic tattooing in addition to creating gorgeous Japanese-style tattoos, I decided to finally make an appointment to fix my lips. In addition to his years tattooing, every day for six months, Mario was in intensive training to learn the intricacies of permanent cosmetics. He didn't just attend some weekend course for estheticians.
The proof of Mario's skill is in the results. I'm so thrilled with my now perfect lips, which were well worth the $850 for permanent lipliner and lipstick. Now I am ready for the next step: my eyes. Permanent eyeliner by Mario: $450. Not having to wrestle with an eyeliner brush when half-awake: priceless.
Mario works on his permanent cosmetic clients at his Rochelle Park, New Jersey locale. He also sets up shop at Hackensack Hospital one day a week to work on cancer patients.
